[Antwerp, April ‘24] – Leading Industrial Internet ofThings (IIoT) solutions provider, Aloxy, announces a series of successful collaborations with Shell SITI BV throughout the past year, solidifying their partnership in scaling IoT initiatives. The highlight of this collaboration is the extensive deployment of over 1,500 Aloxy LoRaWAN valve position sensors at an onshore facility leading Shell's IoT endeavors.
The partnership between Aloxy and Shell SITI BV began in 2020, marked by the successful testing of Aloxy valve position sensors in a lab environment. Today, these wireless valve position sensors are operational across various Shell sites in Asia, the United States, and Europe, contributing to the optimization of operational processes.
The ease of installation and configuration is one of the main benefits of Aloxy’s universal valve position sensors. This not only streamlines deployment but also significantly reduces total installation costs.
Aloxy’s valve position sensor solution and IoT technologies are designed for scalability. The global data architecture set up by Shell enables their facilities around the world to easily utilize IoT technologies like LoRaWAN. In this setup different sites can easily adopt wireless sensors across their plant.
The successful deployment of the valve position sensor is just the beginning of an ongoing collaboration.
According to Aloxy's CEO, Frank Gielissen, "We are working closely together to learn from each other, and the Aloxy roadmap is shaped by the valuable insights of our scaling customers.“
"Shell needs novel, innovative technology to constantly improve its operational efficiency.Working with start-ups like Aloxy helps Shell advance their research, development, and commercialization of new technologies by collaborating with entrepreneurs”,says Peter van den Heuvel, Senior Product Manager.
This unique IIoT sensor can be used to cover a wide range of applications to the benefit of different departments.
Looking ahead, both Aloxy and Shell SITI BV express their enthusiasm for scaling the IIoT valve position application across plants. The successful deployment to date serves as a testament to how Industrial IoT can enhance safety and efficiency, aligning with Shell's commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
Aloxy is a Belgian startup who developed an IoT valve position sensor that offers distinct advantages, including easy installation without the need for valve measurements or customized brackets. The patented technology utilizes motion sensors to determine open, close, and intermediate positions, providing a universal solution for all manual valve types and sizes. This not only streamlines deployment but also significantly reduces total installed costs.
